Is Infertility Affecting You?

At DNA Plus, we understand how struggling to conceive can affect you in many different ways— emotionally, mentally, and physically. When it comes to the ‘why’, we’re here to help. If you have questions about why you’re having difficulty conceiving, our genetic testing may help you find the answers.

Infertility is the inability to become pregnant and maintain the pregnancy and is a condition many people deal with. With infertility affecting one in six couples worldwide, it may be helpful to know you’re not alone in your journey. However, that knowledge is far from all you need. You also want to know what genetic factors may be contributing to your infertility and how you may be able to increase your chances of a successful pregnancy. At DNA Plus, we use Rodinia to look for answers to these questions and more.

Infertility Genetic Testing With DNA Plus

Infertility can be caused by many different reasons, one of which is genetic changes. Rodinia is an infertility genetic test that screens for genetic changes, or mutations, associated with infertility.

Male infertility tends to account for approximately 35% of cases, while female infertility accounts for about 45%, and the remaining cases are due to a combination of both. And while biochemical and instrumental testing, such as hormone testing, ultrasounds, and semen analysis testing, can identify up to 65% of infertility cases, this still leaves many peoples’ questions unanswered. This is where DNA Plus and Rodinia come into your journey.

10-15% of people have genetic changes, or mutations, that are associated with infertility. We aim to help identify these changes so that you and your healthcare provider have the invaluable knowledge you need to make informed and accurate decisions to increase your chances of conceiving.

Your Infertility Genetic Testing Questions Answered

Infertility can be caused by a variety of factors, making it challenging to create an effective conception plan without identifying the root cause. Fortunately, through infertility genetic testing, we can pinpoint genetic causes of infertility so you and your healthcare provider develop a personalised treatment plan that maximises the chances of successful conception. By utilising genetic testing, you can gain valuable insights into your fertility potential and take the necessary steps to achieve your family planning goals.

Infertility genetic testing can provide a range of possible outcomes, depending on your circumstances. In some cases, the testing may identify a specific genetic mutation or chromosomal abnormality that is causing infertility. This information can help your healthcare provider develop a personalised treatment plan to optimise the chances of conception. In other cases, the testing may reveal that there are no genetic factors contributing to infertility, allowing you to explore alternative treatment options.

Additionally, genetic testing can provide valuable information about potential risks for future generations, allowing you to make informed decisions about family planning. Ultimately, the outcomes of infertility genetic testing can help many people better understand their fertility potential and take the necessary steps to achieve their family planning goals.

At DNA Plus, our goal is to provide accurate and reliable results in a way that is comfortable and convenient for you. We conduct a buccal swab, which involves taking a sample from the cheek or mouth to test for whole, partial, and mosaic-sex chromosomal changes that may be contributing to fertility issues.

Once we have your results, we will contact you so you can discuss them with your healthcare provider. From there, they should work with you to determine the next steps on your fertility journey.

We test 55 genes for females and 40 genes in males. For females, we search for possible genetic aspects such as polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS), primary ovarian insufficiency, and ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome while we check for things like Kallmann syndrome in males.
